are you feeling springy?
We’re having a bit of a heat wave in SF, so it almost feels like we skipped spring and went straight into summer. I love the sun, the warmth, and my summer dresses, so I’m not complaining.
Meanwhile, the retail spring marketing emails are flooding your inbox at full force.
The color of the season appears to be a citron-y yellow popping up everywhere — in emails from Helmut Lang, Rachel Comey, Clare V., and more
And if you’re standing in your closet wondering what to do with that information — Do I care? Do I embrace spring? Do I buy citron -y yellow? You’re not alone.
My advice: you do you.
Style isn’t really about trends. It’s about feeling good in your skin. Whether that means buying every single item in the color of the season, buying nothing, or shopping your own closet — which I did and discovered plenty of pops of citron -y yellow ( see pics)… and it’s not even my favorite color — it’s all good.
Citron -y yellow stripe
Citron-y yellow moons
Citron-y yellow mushrooms
What I’m noticing right now are two totally different style directions.
Maximalism (which makes me happy) — bold colors, pattern mixing, lot's of layered jewelry, personality.
And minimalism — clean, muted, and a little meh to me personally… but if that’s your thing, go for it.
What I’m listening to lately:
Mikey Lion Radio. No idea how it ended up in my Spotify playlist. Although, it's a bit housey, it turned out to be perfect highway driving music. Disco-funk-jazzy beats that kept me grooving while schlepping Axel to and from San Jose last weekend.
What I’m reading and don’t recommend:
The Cloisters by Katy Hays. My book club is reading it… and honestly, I didn’t love it.
And, definitely don’t read the other book we just read, The Book of Goose. That was a total snooze fest that went nowhere.
Your turn:
What are you in or not into this spring? A color? A trend? A vibe? Or are you ignoring trends entirely and wearing whatever makes you feel fab?
Comment and let me know!
