Pussy Quilt

  • A magnum opus art piece, 10ft x 13ft, (ink on paper, hand sewn)

  • Created by artist Debbie Mink, 2016-2020

Pussy Quilt  is double-sided and an exploration in:

  • Reclaiming the word Pussy as a source of feminine power.

  • Processing the 2016 Presidential election through creative expression.

  • Recycling/upcycling everyday household items: coffee bags & sharpies.

  • Journaling the changing dynamic of our political climate over the last four years: the destruction, the desperation, the hope, the depression, the anxiety.

  • Building a wall to combat Trump's wall of racism.

  • Real-time swiveling ( my word instead of pivot) with the medium due to lack of access to products during COVID. What started as all Bluebottle coffee bags migrated to unbranded bags out of necessity.

  • Progression of drawing skills (over 4 years) and sewing skills (over two weeks.)

Available for sale or exhibition.  Contact Debbie Mink, debbie@debbiemink.com to discuss the possibilities.

This video was part of an art exhibit at the Petzel Gallery in NYC which examined the public’s response to the 2016 election.
